CLEMSON, S.C. β Clemson Womenβs Tennis (6-1) is set to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks (4-1) in the Palmetto Series on Friday, Feb. 10 at 5:00 p.m. at the Carolina Tennis Center in Columbia, S.C. In the 61st match-up between the teams, the Gamecocks lead the series 32-29.Β
Thoughts from Head Coach Boomer Saia:
βPlaying on the road at your rival will always be a great challenge and one that we will embrace,β said Saia. “We have been through some really great battles thus far this season and we are hoping that will help propel us to a win in Columbia. It doesn’t get bigger than the Palmetto Series and we’re excited for the opportunity!”
The Tigers are coming off a weekend sweep vs Kanas State and at Kansas. Clemson took the first match of the weekend vs Kansas State 4-2 in comeback fashion on Friday, after losing the doubles point the Tigers came back in singles to add their fifth win of the season. Sunday afternoon in Lawrence, Kan., Freshman Rinon Okuwaki extended her undefeated streak in singles to seven to help earn Clemson a 4-1 over Kansas.Β
In the Palmetto Series presented by the South Carolina Education Lottery, the Tigers lead the Gamecocks 6-1. The Tigers and Gamecocks last faced off in 2025, where Clemson took home the win 4-1 at Duckworth. When the rivals face off this season, each will earn points for a win, with the overall winner taking home the Palmetto Series trophy and bragging rights.
