CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson’s cross country program is set to compete in the 24th Annual Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic taking place this Saturday, Oct. 4. The meet will be held at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky., with the men and women each competing in the college gold races. The men will run their 8K at 9 a.m. and the women’s 5K will follow at 9:45 a.m.

Season Highlights

  • In each of the first two meets (Eye Opener & Furman Invitational), the women and men have placed first and second as teams, respectively.
    • The women have only totaled 46 points (Eye Opener – 27, Furman Invitational – 19), and the men have accumulated 117 (Eye Opener – 57, Furman Invitational – 60).
  • Silvia Jelelgo placed first in both women’s races, finishing roughly 40 seconds (Eye Opener) and 47 seconds (Furman Invitational) ahead of the second-place runner.
    • Jelelgo’s performance at the Furman Invitational earned her ACC Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
  • Brenden Gomez has been the top performer for the Tiger men in both races, finishing sixth overall at the Furman Invitational (four miles, 19:14.36) and seventh overall at the Eye Opener (5K, 24:48.9).
