The Clemson Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving team has announced its schedule for the 2008-09 season. The schedule includes meets with seven ACC opponents, as well as a three-day meet at the University of Georgia against some of the nation’s top competition.
Said Head Coach Christopher Ip, “We are excited about the 2008-09 schedule. It should be challenging for the coaches and student-athletes as we make our way toward College Station, TX. We will be pushing the student-athletes mentally and physically from dual meets to the Georgia Invitational. We hope to continue to progress as a program, and the schedule sets up for us to peak at the right time.”
The men are coming off a season in which they went 12-2 (6-2 ACC) while the women were 8-7 (3-5), with five losses to nationally ranked opponents. The women return nearly everyone, while the men lost 14 student-athletes from last season’s group.
Additionally, the Tigers will take to the water against South Carolina in Columbia and a training trip will culminate with a meet against Florida Atlantic. The Women’s ACC championships will beheld from Feb. 18-21 in College Park, Md. The Men’s ACC Championships will be held the following week from Feb. 25-28 at the same facility.
The NCAA Championships take place at Texas A&M in 2009, with the women participating form Mar. 19-21 and the men form Mar. 26-29. Last season, the men’s and women’s events were held in Washington and Ohio State, respectively. The NCAA Zone Diving competition will be held at the University of Tennessee in March.
