CLEMSON, S.C. – Redshirt senior Valerie Cagle and junior Maddie Moore were named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Americans, the organization announced Wednesday. NFCA Release

The 2024 season marks the first in the program’s short infancy that Clemson has produced multiple All-Americans. The Tigers are one of 12 programs to have multiple players receive honors, and one of four ACC teams to do so. Cagle, along with Oklahoma’s Tiare Jennings and Jayda Coleman, are the only four-time All-Americans selected this season. The Yorktown, Va., native is the first Clemson/ACC softball player to accomplish the feat.

Cagle has the distinction of being named the NFCA NCAA Division I Joan Joyce Utility/Pitcher first-team honoree. The renaming of the first-team Utility/Pitcher award happened in 2023 and honors the late Joan Joyce, an NFCA Hall of Famer, unparalleled two-way player, and pioneer of women’s sports. Cagle is a four-time All-ACC honoree, a two-time ACC Player of the Year and was the 2023 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year. Moore earned second-team accolades at second base after she garnered her first All-ACC honor during the 2024 campaign with a first-team selection. The Tiger duo helped Clemson to its fourth ACC Tournament Semifinal and fourth NCAA Regional during the 2024 campaign.

Cagle finished the season with a .338 average behind 50 hits, including seven doubles, seven home runs and a career-high three triples. She led the Tigers with 42 RBIs and scored 27 runs. In the circle, she posted a 2.54 ERA and finished with eight victories through 96.1 innings of work while striking out a team-high 101 batters. Defensively, the utility/pitcher tallied 185 putouts and 37 assists.

Moore had a breakout season with a team-leading 57 hits that included 10 home runs, eight doubles and two triples. The Loomis, Calif., native also led the Tigers in batting average (.368), on-base percentage (.477), stolen bases (15) and walks (29). Defensively, the infielder clocked 69 putouts and 109 assists.

Only players who were selected to All-Region teams were eligible for consideration at the All-America level. Each All-America team is comprised of 18 players, including: three pitchers, one catcher, one first base, one second base, one third base, one shortstop, three outfielders, one utility/pitcher, one utility/non-pitcher and five at-large positions. At-large positions were nominated by the NFCA All-Region committee representatives.
