Emerey Sampson earns All-ACC Honors as Clemson places sixth at the ACC Championship

Raleigh, N.C. –  The Clemson Tigers placed sixth for the second straight year at the ACC Championship with 41 total points, as Senior Emerey Sampson earned Second Team All-ACC honors on Saturday, May 18th on Lake Wheeler in Raleigh, N.C. Syracuse and Virginia both tied in points with 90 each but a victory in the 1v8 gave Syracuse the victory over the defending champions Virginia. 

After the prelim races on Friday, May 17th, three of Clemson’s five boats competed for medals in the grand final, while the other two raced in the petite finals on on Saturday, May, 18th. 

The 3v8 started the racing for the day at 8:05 a.m. in the petite final. The Tigers won the 3v8 petite final with a 6:59.798 time, defeating Boston College and Louisville. Next, Clemson’s 2v4 raced in the Tigers first grand final of the day. Placing fourth, Clemson just missed the chance to medal as they came in at 7:28.406. After that, the Tigers 1v4 also competed for a chance to medal in the grand final. Clemson’s 1v4 was only one second behind Syracuse for a fifth place finish at 7:19.257. Clemson’s 2v8 then competed in the Tiger’s last petite final of the day and placed second with a 6:44.843 time. Finally, the 1v8 closed out the racing in the grand final with a sixth place finish at 6:26.797.

This regatta will mark the end of the 2024 season for Clemson Rowing.
