Clemson Student-Athletes Compile Record 3.31 GPA in the Spring 2024

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson University student-athletes earned a record 3.31 cumulative GPA in the Spring 2024 semester, the 12th consecutive semester greater than 3.0 dating to the Fall of 2018. Every Clemson team recorded a 3.0 or higher in both the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters. 

Five programs set GPA records, including the Elite Eight Men’s Basketball team (3.37), the top-10 Baseball program (3.32) and the College-Cup Women’s Soccer program, which set an all-sport team record with a 3.69 mark. Women’s Basketball (3.51) and Men’s Track and Field (3.15) also set new marks. 

The Nieri Family Student-Athlete Enrichment Center has established Clemson as one of the national leaders in academic success, which saw Clemson post a record 97 percent Graduation Success Rate in the most recent cohort, tops among all public Power Five institutions. Clemson also had a department mark of 991/1000 in the most recent Academic Progress Rate data. 

Overall Academic Notes:

  • Clemson’s 507 undergraduate student-athletes earned a 3.27, and 71 graduate students earned a 3.76
  • A total of 441 student-athletes earned a 3.0 or better (75.9% of all student-athletes), and a record 125 individuals earned a 4.0. 
  • The Fall 2023 semester marked the first time all Clemson programs have earned a 3.0 or better in the same semester – the department has now accomplished the feat in back-to-back semesters. 
  • Twelve programs recorded a 3.30 or better

Team Academic Notes:

  • Women’s Soccer (3.69), Women’s Basketball (3.51), Men’s Basketball (3.37), and Baseball (3.32), set new records, while Men’s Track (3.15) tied its best mark on record. 
  • Women’s Soccer (3.69) had the -highest single-semester GPA for any Clemson program on record, surpassing a 3.68 by the Softball program in Fall 2022 and Spring 2023. The College Cup Women’s Soccer program upped its streak to 47 straight semesters (dating to the Fall of 2000) at 3.0 or better.
  • The Men’s Basketball Program has been at 3.0 or better for three consecutive semesters for the first time on record. 
  • Baseball recorded a 3.27 in the Fall and a 3.32 in the Spring, the first time in history the program had a 3.0 or higher in consecutive semesters. Clemson Baseball’s three best semesters in team history have come in the past four semesters. 
  • The ACC and National Champion Men’s Soccer program earned a 3.46, its 20th straight semester and second-best on record (3.50 in Spring 2016). 
  • Football (3.05) earned a 3.0 or better for its fifth consecutive semester after having accomplished the milestone once prior to 2022, the COVID-shortened spring 2020 semester. Seventy-nine individuals were at 3.0 or better
  • Volleyball has been at 3.42 or better in four of the past five semesters and has 11 straight semesters at 3.0 or higher. 
  • Women’s Golf (3.29) has been at 3.0 or better in all 22 semesters since joining in the Fall of 2013. 
  • Rowing has been above a 3.0 in 29 straight semesters and recorded its 51st 3.0 or better in 52 total semesters since joining in the Fall of 1998.
