Clemson, S.C.—Future Clemson golfer Bryson Nimmer has been named the recipient of the 2014 Jay Haas Player of the Year by the South Carolina Junior Golf Association. Nimmer, the son of former Clemson golfer Tony Nimmer, signed a national letter of intent with the Clemson program in November and will join the Tigers team in August. Nimmer finished atop the year’s final issue of the Heritage Classic Foundation Rankings after compiling four wins, three runner-up finishes, and four other top-five finishes during his 2014 campaign. The Bluffton, S.C., native finished 340 points ahead of second place Christian Salzer of Sumter, S.C. Nimmer won an AJGA open championship at Chechessee Creek in June and added three HJGT wins. He also finished runner up at The Blade Junior Golf Classic, the Beth Daniel Junior Azalea and the AJGA IZOD Championship. He also qualified for the USGA Junior Amateur and reached the match play portion of the competition. This is the 10th time a South Carolina junior golfer has won the Jay Haas Award prior to attending Clemson.
