Amy Smith Adds Hargrave to Staff

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson Gymnastics Head Coach Amy Smith has announced the addition of Madison Hargrave to the staff as the director of operations and interim assistant coach and will be helping with recruiting efforts. Hargrave comes to Clemson after serving as a personal trainer and volunteer assistant coach at NC State.

“Erik and I are so excited to announce the addition of Maddy to our staff in the director of operations position,” said Head Coach Amy Smith. “She knows the ins and outs of college gymnastics being a successful former student-athlete at North Carolina and having been a volunteer assistant at NC State. Her attention to detail and her upbeat energy makes her an absolute perfect fit for our staff and this position. It was great to coach her as a student-athlete at North Carolina, so to get the opportunity to work along with her in helping us build Clemson Gymnastics is just going to be so much fun!”

While At NC State, Hargrave was a vital part of the program as she assisted with team travel coordination, coordinated practice schedules, managed equipment, shared event coaching on beam, floor and vault along with many other key responsibilities.

Hargrave is no stranger to success as she was a four-year gymnast at the University of North Carolina. In her final season, Hargrave reached new heights, achieving a personal-best on vault (9.875) against NC State and on floor (9.900) against Kent State. The Westfield, Ind., native posted floor scores of 9.800 or above in nine of 11 meets throughout her senior campaign. Hargrave earned All Eagle Scholastic Team honors and All Eagle First-Team her senior year along with being a Tar Heel Leader of Distinction for excellence in athletics leadership.
