Tiger Swimming and Diving Places Tenth at ACC Championships

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va.–The Clemson women’s swimming and diving team concluded competition at the ACC Championships on Saturday. The Tigers finished in tenth place in the event, which was hosted by Virginia Tech at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center, with 137 points. Virginia won the conference title with 848 points.

“It was a great finish for our Lady Tigers,” Head Coach Christopher Ip said. “I thank all the parents and alumni for their support this season. We still have the opportunity to represent Clemson at NCAAs.”

Meg Anderson concluded a strong string of swims at the conference meet with a fourth-place finish in the 100 free. Her time of 49.17 seconds earned the Tigers 15 points and pushed her into second place on Clemson’s all-time list in the event.

The Tigers had a pair of top 20 finishers in the 200 fly. Kristen Redmond placed 16th and scored one point with her time of 2:01.72. Tori Cervone finished in 19th place in the event with her time of 2:02.22.

Clemson also posted its best relay finish of the ACC Championships in its final chance. Anderson, Kelsey Krauss, Redmond, and Cervone combined for a sixth-place finish in the 400 free relay. The foursome swam the race in an NCAA-B time of 3:22.10, and Anderson’s leadoff split of 48.97 seconds improved upon the personal-best time she swam earlier in the meet and strengthened her hold on second place in the 100 freestyle at Clemson.

While the Clemson women’s team has concluded its season, minus potential representation at the NCAA Championships in March, the Clemson men’s swimming and diving team will compete in the ACC Championships next week. The four-day event will begin on Wednesday, February 22.
