Clemson Volleyball starts ACC play with road matches against Virginia Tech & Wake Forest. 

CLEMSON, S.C – The Clemson Volleyball team travels to Blacksburg, Va. and Winston-Salem, N.C. to start ACC play for the 2021 season. Friday’s match-up against Virginia Tech is set for 6 p.m. at Cassell Coliseum and will stream on ACCNX. The Tigers will finish up their road trip on Sunday against Wake Forest at Reynolds Gym with a 1 p.m. scheduled start. This match will be streamed on ACCNX. Last year the Tigers finished ACC competition with a 6-9 record, earning its highest-ranked win in program history with its five-set victory over then No.12 Miami on Oct. 8 in Jervey Gym.

The Tigers and Hokies have met 34 times, most recently in the final match of the 2021-21 season when Clemson secured a 3-1 victory, led by Camryn Hannah’s match-high 20 kills and .395 hitting, all while the Tigers lead the overall series 21-13. The Hokies come into the match with a 9-3 overall record with a recent 3-1 loss from North Carolina A&T. Leading the team in points is outside hitter Griere Hughes, scoring 139 total points and tallying 121 total kills.

The Demon Deacons are coming into the contest 9-2 with two recent victories over North Carolina A&T and Davidson. The Tigers lead the series 35-17 and hold a 3-game winning streak. Statistically, Wake Forest leads the ACC in service aces per set, averaging 2.00 a set.

Clemson enters ACC competition with an 8-3 overall record after a recent four-game winning streak with wins over Georgia State, UNC Asheville, Rutgers, and ETSU. Graduate Transfer Kaylee Martin continues to set the offensive tone for the Tigers with a team-high 3.40 kills per set and 124 kills, followed by sophomore Camryn Hannah’s 3.00 kills per set. While on the defensive end, freshman Devan Taylor maintains her dominance on the court by securing 4.10 digs per set on 156 digs this season and ranks 4th amongst the ACC. Five Clemson players have recorded at least 60 kills for the season.
