Columbia, S.C. – Clemson Volleyball got off to a strong start offensively and split the first two sets before ultimately falling to UCF, 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 17-25, 18-25) in the Palmetto Showdown in Columbia, S.C. Clemson (2-1) hit .355 in each of the first two sets, but was unable to maintain the pace.
Graduate student Kaylee Martin led the Tigers offensively for the third consecutive match, tallying 11 kills and hitting .321. Sophomore Camryn Hannah also added 11 kills and seven digs in the match. Ani Clark and Cate Long each added seven kills in the match. Clemson also finished with nine blocks, with three apiece going to Clark and Ava Pritchard. Freshman Devan Taylor tallied 12 digs, her third straight match in double-figures to start her career.
UCF was able to hit .292, and was led by a 19-kill effort from McKenna Melville. The Knights had 14 blocks on the day

“Our team battled the first two sets with aggressive swings against a very strong UCF team. We lost some momentum on first ball opportunities in the third and fourth sets but I’m proud of our group for continuing to push for point runs through the end.”
