After serving as Clemson volleyball’s volunteer assistant coach during the 2020 season, Maddie Haggerty was promoted to assistant coach on March 31, 2021 helping with Clemson’s offense.
In 2021, Haggerty helped guide Clemson to a 10-3 start, including 2-0 in ACC play, to mark the best start to a season since 2014. The Tigers also finished with a perfect 8-0 record against non-conference opponents in Jervey Gym that included a straight sweep of Rutgers for Clemson’s first victory over a Big Ten opponent since 1999. She also coached Clemson to record the third-fewest attack errors during a season in program history trailing only the 2020 and 2008 seasons.
Haggerty played for Nurmon Jymy, a Finnish club in the Mestaruusliiga League in 2019. Prior to playing professionally, Haggerty was a member of the Michigan State Spartans’ roster from 2016-18. After missing the entirety of the 2017 season due to injury, Haggerty was crowned Team MVP. As a redshirt senior in 2018, Haggerty ranked second on the team in kills (2.92/set) and digs (2.22 digs/set), while adding 0.25 blocks, 0.23 assists and 0.25 aces per frame.
