Clemson Men’s Tennis Blanks Troy State 7-0

Clemson, SC — The 27th-ranked Clemson Men’s Tennis Team defeated Troy State by a score of 7-0 on Sunday afternoon as part of the Clemson Spring Classic held at Sloan Tennis Center.

Clemson took a commanding lead in doubles action, shutting out Troy State in two matches. The 17th-ranked team of Nathan Thompson and Jarmaine Jenkins downed Irving Morales and Charles Van Swelm 8-0 at the number one position. Goran Sterijovski and Ryan Young continued at number two doubles with an 8-0 victory over Clayton Langheim and Thaigo Pasos. At the flight three doubles, Clement Reix defeated Emir Basic and Chris Harfield 8-4.

In singles action, Clemson began the match with a free point as Troy State forfeited the number six singles match due to an injury. The Tigers were then able to take the other five matches from Troy State in straight sets. At the number one singles position, 31st-ranked Thompson defeated Morales 6-1, 6-2. Sterijovski downed Basic 6-2, 6-3 at the number two position. At flight three singles, Jarmaine Jenkins defeated Van Swelm 6-3. 6-3. Robbye Poole continued his excellent play this weekend as he defeated Pasos 6-2, 6-2.

Clemson returns to action later Sunday afternoon as they face off against Winthrop in the finale of the Clemson Spring Classic.
