The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced regional indoor winners of Coach of the Year and Athlete of the Year honors on Tuesday. Clemson Head Coach Bob Pollock was honored as Coach of the Year, while freshman Jacoby Ford was named Track Athlete of the Year for the Southeast Region.
Pollock’s honor is his 10th Coach of the Year honor for the region in indoor track & field and his first since the 2005 season. This season, he guided the Tigers to a second-place finish at the ACC Championships. His squad featured two ACC Champions and eight additional all-conference honorees. He also has coached six Tigers that qualified for this weekend’s NCAA Indoor Championships. Pollock is in his 19th year as Clemson’s head coach.
Ford surpassed an ACC record and currently holds the nation’s top time in the 60m dash. He ran a 6.52 in the finals at the ACC Championships on February 24, easily routing the field for his first league title. He also earned All-ACC honors with a third-place finish in the 200m dash. Ford was named ACC Indoor Freshman of the Year as well this season.
