Okey Named ACC POTW

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Chris Okey was voted ACC Baseball Player-of-the-Week, announced Monday afternoon by the ACC office.

Okey went 13-for-23 (.565) with three home runs, two doubles, a 1.043 slugging percentage, seven RBIs and six runs in five games for the Tigers last week. He also had at least two hits in all five games, including three three-hit games. In the three-game series at Boston College, he went 8-for-14 (.571) with three homers, one double, seven RBIs and five runs.

A sophomore catcher from Mount Dora, Fla., Okey went 3-for-4 with a homer, double, four RBIs and two runs in Clemson’s 15-6 win over the Eagles on Friday, then hit two home runs Saturday. On the season, he is hitting .322 with 27 runs, 12 doubles, one triple, eight homers, 38 RBIs and two steals in 36 games.
