In a recent study done by WalletHub.com, the researchers compared the 172 most populous cities in the United States with at least one college or professional soccer team. Clemson, S.C. came in fourth overall in their study, based on everything from average ticket prices and fan base size to stadium accessibility.
Clemson was ranked first overall in the category of “Costs and Fan Engagement”, a nod to Clemson’s ever-growing base of soccer season ticket holders and family friendly atmosphere in which to take in a match at Historic Riggs Field.
Clemson was ranked just outside the top five in the “Best Performing College Soccer Team” category, which was led by Conway, S.C., home of Coastal Carolina.
Clemson was tabbed as fourth in the “Most Accessible College Soccer Stadiums” category, highlighting the recent construction to improve Riggs Field’s fan and player experience.
Perhaps most importantly, Clemson fans were ranked as the second most friendly and engaged college soccer fans in the nation.
WalletHub’s study is a testament to the growing soccer culture that exists here in Clemson. Anyone fortunate enough to see a game at Historic Riggs Field knows that there is no other venue like it in the nation, and Clemson fans are second to none!
