Friday Meet Results

BLACKSBURG, VA – Clemson sophomores Stormy Kendrick and Brianna Rollins established Clemson women’s sprint records on Friday night to lead Tiger track & field on the first day of the Hokie Invitational. Kendrick broke the school record in the 60m dash, while Rollins did the same in the 60m hurdles. Both athletes won their respective events, while Kendrick earned automatic qualification to the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.

Kendrick smoked the field in the final of the women’s 60m dash, clocking a personal best 7.22. Her time is also the No. 1 time in the NCAA so far this indoor season. Rollins won the 60m hurdles, breaking her previous best of 8.17 with a time of 8.15 in the final. Her time is second among all NCAA hurdlers and was just one hundredth of a second shy of an auto qualifying mark in the event.

Another top story from Friday was the performance of freshman Bridgette Owens in the 60m hurdles. The native of Oak Park, MI posted a personal best time of 8.40 – tied for sixth-best in Clemson history – and finished third overall. Monique Gracia was fourth with a time of 8.47.

Jasmine Edgerson performed well in the finals of both the 60m dash and 60m hurdles. The Marietta, GA native clocked a 7.44 in the 60m final and finished sixth overall. She had a time of 8.50 in another sixth-place showing in the hurdles final.

Marlena Wesh won the women’s 300m dash. The transfer from the University of Oklahoma crossed the finish line with a time of 38.09, the second-best time in Clemson history for the event. Fellow newcomer Whitney Fountain, a native of the Bronx, was runner-up with a time of 38.83.

Justin Murdock was the top performing men’s sprinter on Friday for Clemson. The junior from Pasadena, MD was sixth in the 60m dash with a time of 6.74. He followed that with a personal best time of 34.23 – just outside the top five performance list in the Clemson record books – in a seventh-place showing in the 300m dash. Warren Fraser ended up eighth in the 60 with a time of 6.78.

Spencer Adams placed fourth in the men’s 60m hurdles. The red-shirt sophomore from Charlotte had a time of 7.94 in the preliminary round, but fell to 8.02 for the final.

April Sinkler was runner-up in the women’s triple jump, but she was the top collegiate performer. The native of Virginia produced a jump of 42’4″ on her second attempt. Sinkler will compete in the long jump on Saturday.

Thor Serafenas was 13th overall with a throw of 50’8″.

The teams return to action Saturday for the final day at the Hokie Invitational. The first event for the Tigers will be the women’s high jump at 9:00 AM.
