Clemson Volleyball Drops Season Opener To #7 Nebraska

NORMAL, IL – The Clemson volleyball team opened its 2003 season Friday night against seventh-ranked Nebraska at the Barker GMC Classic. The Tigers dropped their season opener 3-0 (32-30, 30-10, 30-17) at Redbird Arena.

The Tigers were led by juniors Lori Ashton, Leslie Finn and Ryane Beasley. Ashton hit .267 with eight kills, while Finn tallied seven kills with 12 digs and one service ace. Beasley posted seven kills and four block assists, and junior Stephanie Haskell handed out 18 assists with two kills and one service ace.

Jennifer Saleamua led the Cornhuskers with 10 kills and six digs, while Anna Schrad recorded eight kills with a .300 hitting percentage and nine digs. Melissa Elmer tallied eight kills, five service aces and four blocks (one solo). Michelle Lynch recorded 23 assists, while Dani Busboonj tallied 16.

Clemson will face Illinois State Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (CT) and Illinois at 5:00 p.m. (CT) on the second day of the Barker GMC Classic.
