Clemson (7-2) will host its second tournament of 2010, as they claimed the Big Orange Bash title from Aug. 27-28. The Tigers have been on the road each of the past two weekends, winning the Carolina Challenge in Rock Hill from Sept. 3-4 and then playing in the Spartan Invitational from Sept. 10-11.
Georgia Tech is off to a 5-4 start on the season, and matchups between the Tigers and Jackets are usually close. The past four matchups have all been decided in a fifth set, including both matchups in 2009 and 2008. Clemson holds a 32-22 series lead, but the Jackets have won three in a row.
Clemson and Georgia State (5-5) have met 13 times on the volleyball court, with the Tigers holding an 11-2 advantage over the Panthers. The teams last played in 2007, a 3-0 Clemson win, also in the Clemson Classic.
Florida A&M (0-7) is 0-5 all-time against the Tigers, and met Clemson twice during the 2008 season during back-to-back days in the Clemson Classic.
Although the Tigers open ACC play with Georgia Tech, the ACC schedule fully gets underway on Sept. 24 as Clemson welcomes Wake Forest at 7:00 pm and ACC-favorite Duke at 6:00 pm on Sept. 25, Clemson’s designated Solid Orange match.
