Next the Tigers’ Zachary Rigsby won at number-six singles with a victory over Diego Soto 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. With the team score tied 3-3, this set up the deciding match at number four singles. At this position, Pavia defeated Meza giving the Hurricanes the 4-3 victory.

“The team competed at a high level today,” said Clemson Head Coach Chuck McCuen. “As a coaching staff, that’s what we ask for each time we step on the court. The score did not go our way, but we improved once again with our doubles play.

“Derek DiFazio and Yannick Maden played very well at the top of the line up for us. Zachary Rigsby continued his strong play at number-six singles to capture the third point.

“We will learn from today’s tough loss and continue to work hard to reach our goals. Lastly, we give credit to a very strong Miami team who played very well today – congratulations to them,” said McCuen.

Clemson will play at South Carolina on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Columbia, SC. This will be the 102nd meeting between the two schools in men’s tennis. The series started in 1925.
