CLEMSON, SC – The #23 Clemson Men’s Tennis Team will play host to #40 South Carolina on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center on the Tigers’ campus. Clemson will enter the match with a 12-2 record overall. The Tigers are 9-0 at home this season. Clemson is led by Hunter Harrington with a 15-6 record overall in singles play. Luke Johnson leads the Tigers in dual match wins with a 10-1 record overall. The Tigers’ number-one doubles team of Harrington and Dominique Maden have a 14-2 record overall and have a perfect 9-0 mark in dual match play. South Carolina is ranked 40th this week in the latest ITA poll. The Gamecocks have a 7-5 record overall this season. The Gamecock’s Andrew Schafer, ranked 88th nationally, leads the squad in singles victories with an 18-6 record this season. He has an 11-1 mark in dual matches. Chip Cox is 14-7 this season in singles play. Tsvetan Mihov is ranked 75th nationally and has a 13-10 record in singles. Mihov and Thiago Pinheiro are ranked 39th as a doubles team and lead the Gamecocks in doubles wins with a 13-9 record overall. This will be the 106th meeting between Clemson and South Carolina on the tennis courts. The Gamecocks lead the overall series 62-41-2. The first meeting was on April 13, 1925 when South Carolina defeated Clemson 4-2. Five days later, Clemson defeated the Gamecocks by the same score of 4-2. Clemson has played South Carolina more than any other opponent in men’s tennis.
