CLEMSON, SC – The 21st-ranked Clemson men’s tennis team will play in the Blue-Gray Men’s National Tennis Classic this weekend February 21-23 in Montgomery, AL. The Tigers are seeded second in the tournament and will play Princeton in the first round on Friday at 2:30 p.m. eastern time. Mississippi State, ranked 11th nationally, is the top-seeded team in the tournament. Auburn, ranked 28th nationally is the third seed and Alabama, ranked 36th is the fourth-seeded team. Other participants in the Classic include Virginia Commonwealth, Texas Tech, Boise State and Princeton. Each team is guaranteed to play three matches as places 1-8 will be determined in the three-day tournament. The winner of the Clemson-Princeton match will play the winner of the Alabama-Boise State match on Saturday. Clemson has a 10-1 record overall this season and is ranked 21st according to the latest ITA poll. The Tigers’ Hunter Harrington is ranked 67th in singles play. Harrington is 13-5 overall, 6-2 in dual match play. The doubles team of Harrington and Dominique Maden is 11-2 this season, 6-0 in dual matches. This will be the 11th meeting between Clemson and Princeton on the tennis courts. Clemson leads the overall series, that was started in 1980, 7-3.
