CLEMSON, S.C. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced that the Clemson Volleyball program was a recipient of the 2024-25 AVCA Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT on Wednesday.
This marks the sixth consecutive season the Tigers have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award, seventh overall, and the fourth year under Head Coach Jackie Simpson Kirr. The award comes after Clemson set a program record for the second consecutive year with 10 players on the All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team and secured three College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District selections. In total, five student-athletes return to the 2024-25 squad that earned either All-ACC Academic or CSC Academic All-District accolades last season.
The team recently posted a 3.41 spring semester GPA during the 2024-25 school year and a program record 3.57 GPA during the fall semester. The program has secured a GPA of 3.0 or higher in 13 straight semesters. Clemson volleyball has also recorded an Academic Progress Rate of 994 or higher in nine consecutive cohorts, including a perfect 1000 this past cohort.
The AVCA Team Academic Award, which was initiated during the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative GPA on a 5.0 scale.
