CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers dropped the series finale to Boston College, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Clemson fell to 37-12 (16-5 ACC), while the Eagles improved to 20-23 (5-13 ACC).
The Clemson Softball program recognized nine seniors following the conclusion of Saturday’s 2025 home finale. Seniors included Brooke McCubbin, Aby Vieira, Reese Basinger, Haylee Whitesides, Abi Stuart, Brook Melnychuk, Jadeyn Ruszkowski, Alex Brown and Maddie Moore.
In a game that started as a pitcher’s duel, Clemson jumped on the board first after Taylor Pipkins, who reached on a fielding error to open the inning, was brought home on an RBI by Brown. Boston College responded with a three-run homer in the top of the fourth. The Eagles scored again in the top of the fifth after a double off the wall scored a runner who had reached on an error. BC led, 4-1, after five.
The Tigers cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fifth as Kennedy Ariail, who was running for Marian Collins who doubled to open the inning, was brought home on a Jamison Brockenbrough RBI to make it 4-2. The Eagles got the run back in the sixth off a sac fly to extend their lead to 5-2. The Tigers looked to rally in the bottom of the seventh with Collins notching her second hit of the game but would leave one runner stranded to drop the game, 5-2, to BC.
Basinger (15-5) started in her 23rd game of the season and pitched the first three innings before McCubbin entered in relief. McCubbin pitched 1.1 innings with one strikeout before Cintron entered the circle. Cintron finished the game with one strikeout in her 1.2 innings of work.
