PREVIEW

  • Coming off back-to-back wins over Boston College and Syracuse, the Clemson Tigers (10-17, 2-14 ACC) are set to begin a three-match road trip starting with the Miami Hurricanes (18-9, 9-7 ACC) before heading on to face the Florida State Seminoles (18-8, 10-6 ACC).
  • The Tigers will first face off against the Hurricanes on Friday, November 22 at 7 p.m. in Coral Gables, Fla. Clemson won their most recent matchup against the Hurricanes in a five-set thriller in October last year.
  • Clemson will end their road trip in Florida in Tallahassee when the Tigers meet Florida State on Sunday, November 24 at 1 p.m.
  • Both matches will be shown on ACCNX.

SENIOR WEEKEND RECAP

  • Clemson began Senior Weekend festivities with a five-set thriller against the Boston College Eagles with senior Azyah Dailey leading the Tigers offense with 22 recorded kills. Junior Mia McGrath and setter Katherine Sandt each notched double-doubles, with McGrath having 18 digs and 14 kills while Sandt had 40 assists and 12 digs.
  • On Senior Day, Clemson recorded their first ACC sweep of the year over Syracuse. The Tigers held the Orange to under .100 hitting and limited their sevice game to only a single ace.

CAN YOU DIG IT?

  • Since opening weekend, Clemson has led the ACC in either total digs and/or digs per set
  • As a team, Clemson has 1,578 total digs and are closing in on the most total digs by the team since the 2022 season when they amassed 1,729. Clemson maintains 16.10 digs per set, the most by the team since 2012 (17.19).
  • Senior libero Devan Taylor has led the charge leading the ACC in digs and/or digs per set since Sept. 15 through the previous weekend. Taylor has 421 total digs to average 4.30 per set during the 2024 campaign. If Taylor can continue her pace on digs per set, it would be the most by a Tiger in a season since Natalie Patzin’s 2012 season (4.49 d/s).
  • Joining Taylor in the back line has been sophomore McKenna Gildon (1.59 d/s) and freshmen Addi Rains (1.75 d/s) and Claire Luoma (1.53). Mia McGrath joins Taylor with 2.60 digs per set while Sandt has 2.18 digs per set.

FROM SETBACKS TO SUCCESS

  • During the Tigers match against No. 17 Georgia Tech (10/16), team captain Dailey notched a career high 30 kills, the highest by any Tiger this season, while hitting .312 and putting up nine digs and a block. Dailey’s 30 kill match is tied for the ninth-most in a match in Clemson history and is the fourth time in program history a 30+ kill game was recorded against Georgia Tech (Leslie Finn – 30, 09/28/04, 30, 11/19/04; Brittany Ross – 32, 11/15/05)
  • The senior is one of the leading attackers on the team with the second-highest total attacks while leading the Tigers in kills, kills per set and points. During Senior Weekend, the Floridian notched 44 points on the weekend with 37 kills.
  • Dailey is also a threat on the defensive end, having the fourth-highest total blocks and blocks per set on the team. Against Syracuse on Senior Day, Dailey recorded five solo blocks in three sets, tied for the tenth-highest single match total in Clemson history.

TIGERS IN THE PROS

  • Kira Watson, a four-year letterwinner and middle blocker for the Tigers, signed with the Atlanta Vibe in January 2024 for the Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF). She recorded double digit kills against San Diego where she also put up four blocks and three digs and notched four kills, four blocks and three digs in the inaugural PVF match.  Recently, Beta Dumancic joined Watson as the second Clemson alumni to join the PVF when she signed with the Columbus Fury.
  • Recent Clemson Volleyball alumni, Mckenna Slavik and Adria Powell, both signed overseas to begin their professional volleyball careers. Slavik signed with AEK Larnaca out of Karavas, Cypress, the same club that Head Coach Jackie Simpson Kirr played for, while Powell signed with VfB Suhl Lotto Thurigen located in Suhl, Germany.
