CLEMSON, S.C. – The United States Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced that the Clemson Volleyball program was a recipient of the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award on Thursday.
The team posted a cumulative 3.36 team GPA during the 2022-23 school year. This marks the fourth consecutive season the Tigers have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award, fifth overall. Clemson is one of 10 ACC schools to earn the team award.
This award comes after Clemson landed seven players, Sophie Catalano, Ani Clark, Azyah Dailey, Colleen Finney, Becca Micelle, Mckenna Slavik and Devan Taylor, on the All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team in the fall of 2022 which marked a program record. Additionally, 14 student-athletes, including seven returners to the 2023-24 roster, were named to the ACC Honor Roll.
The award, which was initiated during the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative GPA on a 5.0 scale.
