CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson’s volleyball team was recognized by the United States Marine Corp (USMC) and the American Volleyball Associate (AVCA) today as recipients of the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award.
The team posted a cumulative 3.36 team GPA during the 2021-22 school year. During the spring semester, every member of the program carried a 3.0 or higher with to boast a program-high 3.5 GPA for the semester. It marks the third consecutive season the Tigers have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award, and the fourth overall. Clemson is one of nine ACC schools to earn the team award.
This award comes after Clemson landed four players, Ani Clark, Kaylee Martin, Ava Pritchard and Mckenna Slavik, on the All-ACC Academic Volleyball team in the fall. Additionally, 13 student-athletes, including 10 returners to the 2022-23 roster, were named to the ACC Honor Roll.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
