By: Brian Hennessy

CLEMSON, S.C. – Purple rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Orange 4-3 and sweep the Orange & Purple World Series on Sunday afternoon at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The series featured three seven-inning contests and marked the end of the fall practice season.

Orange took a 2-0 lead on Sam Hall’s run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning, then Purple tied the score 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning on two-out, run-scoring singles by Matt Cooper and Drew Donathan. After James Parker’s solo homer in the fifth inning for Purple, Pierce Gallo’s two-out, run-scoring double in the sixth inning tied the score again.

Purple scored the walkoff run in the seventh inning on a hard-hit ball by Bryce Teodosio with two outs and an errant throw to first base.

Evan Estridge earned the win by retiring the only batter he faced in the seventh inning. Connor O’Rear suffered the loss. Orange starter Mack Anglin allowed just three hits, no earned runs and one walk with four strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched.

The Tigers open the 2020 season with a three-game home series against Liberty from Feb. 14-16. Tickets are available HERE.
