2008 IPTAY Seat Equity Plan Frequently Asked Questions

2008 IPTAY Seat Equity Plan Frequently Asked Questions

Oct. 11, 2007

The first solicitation for IPTAY ’08 will be mailed out soon and should be in the IPTAY Donor’s hand by the first two weeks of October. Clemson football season ticket holders will receive a letter, along with the solicitation, that will indicate if in fact their current seat value exceeds the IPTAY Donor’s previous year’s IPTAY Donor level. A form will also be included that the donor can use to choose their pledge level and return with their donation. A minimum of 50% of the pledge is due by February 15, 2008.

In the latter part of March 2008, IPTAY Donors will receive the 2008 Football Season Ticket Application order form. IPTAY Donors interested in moving to a different area of the Memorial Stadium in an effort to improve his/her current seats, will be able to complete the IPTAY Seat Equity Plan Ticket Relocation request form that will be available online at clemsontigers.com and also included in the 2008 Season Ticket Application.

Q. Are we re-seating Memorial Stadium?

A: No. It is important to remember that we are providing all IPTAY Donors the opportunity to maintain their seats for a fair and reasonable donation to IPTAY. In allowing each IPTAY Donor the opportunity to maintain their current seats, we feel this is the best way for IPTAY to handle the issues pertaining to loyalty. Once again, it is important to note that we are not reseating Memorial Stadium.

Q: When is the IPTAY 50% deadline?

A. It is wise to understand the process; the deadline for 50% of your IPTAY Pledge has been moved to February 15, 2008. A failure to fulfill the 50% obligation by this deadline will put the IPTAY Donor in jeopardy of maintaining their seats in Memorial Stadium. In the past, there has been flexibility to allow the IPTAY Donors to fulfill this obligation; however with the implementation of the IPTAY Seat Equity Plan, there is little room for adjusting the schedule, due to the tremendous amount of time that it will take for our athletic ticket office to implement the plan.

Q: What if I request a location change, when will I know if it has been changed?

A: The process of assigning tickets will still be the same as it has been in the past; it will be assigned by IPTAY Donor Level and then Priority Points within that level. This process will be timely with the allocation and reallocation of specific ticket needs, but the Athletic Ticket Office should have seating finalized by on or around July 7th. In an effort to continually improve the overall communications with IPTAY/Tickets and the IPTAY Donors, we are examining the possibility of e-mailing all IPTAY Donors their seat location and parking location. More information about this plan will be communicated through upcoming Orange & White publications.

Q: Does the per seat IPTAY donation outlined in the IPTAY Seat Equity Plan guarantee me seats in the specified area if I donate to that level?

A: No. Your IPTAY donation does qualify you for the opportunity to put in line to obtain those specific seats. All IPTAY donors are given a chance to keep their seats so turnover or attrition will be hard to estimate. Again, the donation makes you eligible for the seats. All seats that become available throughout Memorial Stadium will be assigned by IPTAY Donor Level and Priority Points within that level. Once again, the critical item is if seats become available.

Q: If my request for a certain area and location cannot be met, will I receive a call?

A: We will try and contact as many as possible by either phone or e-mail. As you can imagine, this will be a tremendous task. However, what will help the Athletic Ticket Office is that the IPTAY Donor indicates more than one choice or specific seat request. If nothing is available in a better location, we will be forced to leave the seats in the same place as long as the IPTAY Seat Equity Donation is at the required amount. Once again, in an effort to continually improve the overall communications with IPTAY/Tickets and the IPTAY Donors, we are examining the possibility of e-mailing all IPTAY Donors their seat location and parking location. More information about this plan will be communicated through upcoming Orange & White publications.

Q: How are IPTAY Life Donors impacted in the IPTAY Seat Equity Plan?

A: The IPTAY Seat Equity Plan will allow the Life Donors to purchase the number of seats outlined in their respective Life Donor agreements as it pertains to the specific IPTAY giving level. These seats in the Life Donor agreement will not be affected; however seats purchased above and beyond the Life Donor agreed upon number will be impacted by the IPTAY Seat Equity Plan. The balance was calculated by taking the number of tickets associated with the Life Donor membership, selecting the best tickets and then calculating the additional tickets at the appropriate seat value. Also, please be reminded that many of our Life Donors have become IPTAY Life Plus Donors and this will give them the opportunity to improve parking and seat location.

Q: What about if I have been purchasing tickets through my IPTAY membership for neighbors and friends…..can they join and get those tickets?

A. We encourage the neighbors and friends to join IPTAY at the appropriate level; however, we can not transfer tickets from one donor to another membership. The neighbors and friends noted above will receive the best opportunity to secure tickets at the level in which each join.

Q: How does someone estimate the IPTAY Seat Equity Plan Value?

A. To maintain your seats for the 2008 season, simply multiply the seat giving level by the number of tickets purchased.

Q: How does the IPTAY Seat Equity Plan Impact University/Faculty/Staff?

A. University Faculty/Staff will receive an non-monetary IPTAY membership of $ 140 if they purchase football season tickets; if a University/Faculty Staff member is already an IPTAY Donor, that donor will receive a $ 140 non-monetary credit; as a member of the University Faculty/Staff, this group has the opportunity to purchase two season tickets at a 20% discount; any additional season tickets will be the regular IPTAY season ticket rate;

Q: What relationship does the IPTAY Seat Equity Plan have with IPTAY Parking?

A. It is also important to note that if 25% of the IPTAY Donors that are between the $ 140 and $ 700 level increase his/her level to maintain their seats, that could be an increase of over 375 numbered parking spaces required; the reason for this information is because the IPTAY Seat Equity Plan will impact parking significantly;

Q: What will take place if I do not want to increase my giving to IPTAY, but I want to purchase season tickets?

A. Donors who do not wish to increase their IPTAY Donor level in order to maintain their seats will be assigned in the seat value area that best matches the level; those seats will be assigned through the process of IPTAY Donor Level and Priority Points within each level; there could be a situation in which an IPTAY Donor could be assigned seats in a section in which the seat value level is lower than their IPTAY Donor level; however, each donor needs to be reminded about the impact of parking and level; there could be a time and it could be in 2008, that $ 350 IPTAY Donors do not receive area parking;

Q: What were the objectives set in place prior to the development of the IPTAY Seat Equity Plan?

A. The objectives assigned to us by the IPTAY Board were to align Clemson with other BCS Schools – Clemson is the only school in Top 20 in NCAA attendance that has not implemented a Seat Option/Equity/PSL type of program; create the least amount of headaches for all by creating a plan that is fair, equitable and reasonable; provide opportunities for higher giving donors to purchase lower level premium seats to provide equitable seating; re-evaluate the stadium every five years; generate revenue for IPTAY/Athletic Department;

Q: Who could be impacted by the IPTAY Seat Equity Plan?

A. Only 37.1% of the IPTAY Donors (3,420 donors) who maintain seats in Memorial Stadium will be financially impacted by the 2008 IPTAY Seat Equity Plan if they purchase similar seats to that of the 2007 season, while 62.9% of the IPTAY Donors (5,771 donors) will not be impacted.
