CLEMSON, S.C. – The 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan wrapped up yesterday, Sept. 21 with multiple Tiger connections ranging from athlete to coaches.
2025 Clemson Hall of Fame inductee Natoya Goule-Toppin tops the list with her 800m performances. She won her preliminary heat with a time of 1:59.66 and then placed fifth in her semifinal with a time of 1:59.58. Goule-Toppin is a 10-time Jamaica National Champion, most recently winning the women’s 800 meters at the JAAA National Championships in June 2024. She also holds Jamaica’s national record in the 800 meters for both indoor and outdoor.
The Tigers also had two coaches at the 2025 World Athletics Championships. Clemson’s Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Mark Elliot and Associate Head Coach Lennox Graham each coached Team Jamaica. Elliot was the track and field coach while Graham was a personal coach with Jamaica’s defending World 100m Hurdles Champion.
