Clemson, S.C., Nov. 12, 2025 – Clemson women’s basketball (2-1) returns home from Columbia for a Thursday night matchup with American (1-0) . Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. The game will stream live on ACCNX and air on the Clemson Athletic Network.

SETTING THE STAGE

Clemson is looking to rebound after its first loss of the season on Tuesday night at No. 2/2 South Carolina. The Tigers are looking for their third straight home victory. The Eagles started its season off with a 66-63 victory over Delaware State on Saturday and are looking for their second straight win. This will be the first of a two game homestand for the Tigers, as they play host to No. 22/21 Louisville on Sunday afternoon. 

THE CLEMSON-AMERICAN SERIES

Thursday night’s game will be the first ever matchup between the Tigers and the Eagles. 

LAST TIME OUT

No. 2/2 South Carolina used a 20-2 fourth quarter to pull away from Clemson, handing the Tigers their first loss of the season, 65-37. Senior guard Taylor Johnson-Matthews led the Tigers with nine points, while graduate forward Demeara Hinds added eight points and a team-high six rebounds. Senior guard Mia Moore finished with seven points, and Rachael Rose contributed six on efficient shooting. South Carolina opened the game with an 11-0 run. After the opening scoring run, Clemson matched the Gamecocks, 24-24, through the half. In the third quarter the Tigers cut USC’s lead to 10 points twice. 

TIGERS INK MONSTER SIGNING CLASS;HIGHEST EVER IN PROGRAM HISTORY

The incoming 2026 class is the highest-ranked signing class in program history and ranks third nationally (per 247 Sports) and fifth nationally (per ESPN). Coach Poppie, who is in his second year at the helm, has signed six Top-100 recruits in two years. Prior to the Poppie Era at Clemson, the program has only had six Top-100 recruits in the previous 12 years.

The Class includes: Trinity Jones, Kimora Fields, Julia Scott, Meeyah Green, and Dyarri Braddick.

Trinity Jones: No. 9 Nationally – 247 Sports (97, Four Star) & No. 11 Nationally – ESPN SC Next 100 (96, Five Star).

Kimora Fields: No. 27 Nationally – ESPN SC Next 100 (95, Four Star) & No. 46 Nationally – 247 Sports (93, Four Star).

Julia Scott: No. 39 Nationally – ESPN SC Next 100 (94, Four Star) & No. 40 Nationally – 247 Sports (95, Four Star).

Meeyah Green: No. 63 Nationally – 247 Sports (91, Four Star). & No. 50 Nationally – SC Next 100 (94, Four Star).

 Dyarri Braddick: Ranked as No. 108 Nationally – ESPN SC Next (Three Star).

RACHAEL ROSE NAMED TO NANCY LIEBERMAN PGOTY PRESEASON WATCH LIST

Senior guard Rachael Rose is 1-of-20 players (1-of-6 in the ACC) named to the 2026 Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Preseason watch list, announced by Hoophall & the WBCA. The Nancy Lieberman Award recognizes the top point guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball. To be considered for this prestigious award, candidates must exhibit the floor leadership, playmaking, and ball-handling skills of Class of 1996 Hall-of-Famer Nancy Lieberman.
