Tigers Find Success at Shamrock Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. – Sparked by finals appearances in both the one- and three-meter by Sarah Braun and Danielle Reitsma, the Clemson diving team capped off a successful weekend at the Shamrock Invitational on Saturday. The two seniors combined for six Zone scores over the two-day competition, and Braun placing second in the three-meter finals was the best finish by any Tiger diver.

In the three-meter on Friday, three of the eight finals qualifiers were Tigers, with Reitsma (294.20) posting a Zone score and the third-highest preliminary score of the event. Braun and Allison Brophy were the other Clemson divers to qualify for the three-meter finals, and Braun (284.35) emerged as the top Tiger in the final with her second-place finish.

Saturday’s action featured the one-meter, and Reitsma recorded yet another Zone score (279.90) en route to the second-best preliminary score, and Braun (268.50) also surpassed the 265-point Zone standard and made it to finals in the event. The latter (268.60) took fourth and the former (265.35) took fifth in the finals, and two more Zone scores were posted by the seniors.

The Tigers compete in their last meet of the regular season on Feb. 4, when they travel to Harrisonburg, Va. for the JMU Dukes Invite.
