Tigers Fall To Cavaliers,73-63

Charlottesville, Va. – Clemson women’s basketball (10-5, 1-2 ACC) fell to Virginia (11-3, 3-0 ACC), 73-63, at John Paul Jones Arena on New Year’s Day (Thursday night).

Rachel Rose (16 points, season-best seven assists, and seventh double-figure scoring game of the season) shot 5-7 from field goal range and 6-8 at the free-throw line. Raven Thompson (14 points) recorded her third double-digit scoring game of the season. Demeara Hinds (12 points) logged her sixth double-digit scoring game of the season. Mia Moore (10 points, four assists) recorded her 11th double-figure scoring game of the season.

Virginia was led by Tabitha Amanze an 18-point and 11-rebound double-double performance.

HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED

Clemson used an 11-0 run from the 4:01 to the 1:39 mark in the fourth quarter, effectively trimming its deficit to six points, 68-62, Virginia. The Hoo’s used a short 6-1 scoring stretch to close out the game, handing the Tigers their second conference loss of the season.
