Tigers Edged, 4-3, at No. 23 NC State

CLEMSON, S.C. No. 28 Clemson (4-8, 0-2 ACC) fought back from a 3-1 deficit to tie the match at 3-3, sending the decision down to No. 1 singles, but Noa Vukadin fell in a three-set match against the nation’s 15th-ranked player to drop a 4-3 decision at No. 23 NC State (10-1, 2-0 ACC).

In doubles, after Markov and Vukadin dropped a decision on court one, Henrik Bladelius and Noah Lopez Cherubino earned their first win together on court two, 6-3. It served as Lopez Cherubino’s official Clemson debut and extended the doubles point down to court three. Farzam and Mesarovic fought off an early 3-1 deficit to knot their match at 3-3 but Benton and Sabaliauskas won three straight games to clinch the doubles point.

Matisse Farzam got the Tigers tied up at 1-1 in singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win on court three to improve to 16-4 on the season. NC State took wins on courts six (Pop over Lopez Cherubino) and four ( Leroux over Bladelius) to take a 3-1 lead. Marko Mesarovic got one back on court five with his 6-4, 6-0 win over Charlie Camus. Viktor Markov got the match tied up at 3-3 when he took down No. 104 William Manning on court two with a 7-5, 6-4 win.

This left just Noa Vukadin on court one with the nation’s No. 15 singles player, Martin Borisiouk. Vukadin took the first set in a thrilling tiebreaker, 7-6 (1). Vukadin then took a 3-0 lead in the second set before Borisiouk charged back to win six straight games and the second set to force a decisive third set for the match. Borisiuok took the first five games before Vukadin was able to hold serve, but Borisiouk put it away on his next serve.
