Tigers Drop Defensive Battle To No. 25/21 North Carolina, 53-44

Chapel Hill, N.C. – Clemson women’s basketball (16-8, 7-5 ACC) dropped a defensive battle at No. 25/21 North Carolina (19-5, 8-3 ACC) on Thursday night at Carmichael Arena, 53-44. For the 15th time this season, Clemson has held its opponent to under 60 points.

Junior guard Rusne Augustinaite led the Tigers with 15 points, all of which came from behind the arc. The ACC leader in three-point percentage tied her season high in three-pointers made, going 5-8 from downtown. Senior forward Raven Thompson had eight points and led the Tigers with four rebounds. Defensively, the Tigers held North Carolina to 53 points, the 15th time this season Clemson has held its opponent under 60.

North Carolina was led by Nyla Harris (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Lanie Grant (16 points).

HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED
Clemson held a 24-22 advantage heading into the break before North Carolina went on a 15-4 run to close out the third quarter and take a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way.
