CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson’s track & field program delivered a statement performance at the Orange & Purple Invitational, producing a surge of historic marks highlighted by four new school records, a dozen entries on various all‑time performances lists and 23 personal records set.
Shantae Foreman was the women’s athlete of the meet after unleashed a record‑breaking 14.17m / 46′ – 6.00″ in the women’s triple jump. The mark not only secured first place but also reset the Clemson school record and established a new personal best. Foreman’s distance 14th in all-time NCAA history and is also good for No. 2 in the ACC’s history, trailing Kimberly Williams (Florida State, 14.23m / 46’ – 8.25”, 2010).
On the track, Grant Holliday continued his strong start to the season by rewriting the men’s 400m record with a winning time of 45.61 seconds.
Brian Kweyei added another program record of the meet, running 2:20.42 in the men’s 1000m to finish second and etch his name atop the Clemson record book.
In the shot put, freshman standout Kimeka Smith continued her remarkable streak by throwing 16.06m / 52’ – 8.25″, breaking the freshman record for the third straight meet (including back-to-back meets in which she improved her own mark) and holding firm at fifth on Clemson’s all‑time list.
ADDITIONAL ALL-TIME PERFORMANCES
In the women’s mile invite, Silvia Jelelgo surged to victory in 4:31.50, a personal best that moved her from third to second on Clemson’s all‑time list.
A few places behind Jelelgo came Nancy Cherop, who finished fourth with a time of 4:32.92. Cherop slides right behind Jelelgo on the all-time list in third place.
The throws group delivered two more historic marks as Kendra Dye won the women’s weight throw with a personal record of 21.43m / 70′ – 3.75”, the third‑best performance in program history, while teammate Ella Brooks threw 19.53m / 64′ 1.00″ to remain sixth all‑time.
In the pentathlon, Danya Spoor compiled 3,500 points to finish sixth and climb to seventh on Clemson’s all‑time list.
The women’s 5000m produced a dominant 1–2 finish, with Emily Lamontagne running a personal record 16:26.87 to remain third all‑time and Elizabeth Ilanda clocking 16:39.09, the fourth‑fastest mark in school history.
On the men’s side, Andre Hodge’s 6.65 second semifinals 60m time tied him for 10th on Clemson’s all‑time list and the men’s 4x400m relay added another all-time performance entry with a 3:09.02 that now ranks 10th in program history.
