Tiger Track & Field Heads to Philadelphia for Penn Relays

April 22, 2009

Clemson, SC – The Tiger track & field program will send a group of competitors to Philadelphia for the prestigious Penn Relays this weekend. The meet, held at historic Franklin Field, will run Thursday through Saturday and feature several of the nation’s top collegiate teams in action.

Clemson’s entries include three relay teams: the men’s 4x100m, 4x200m, and sprint medley. The 4×1 group is coming off a runner-up finish at last week’s ACC Championships in Miami. The team of C.J. Spiller, and Justin Murdock own a season-best time of 39.42, recorded at the Florida Relays in early April. The 4×1 prelims are scheduled for Friday at 12:35 PM, with the finals Saturday at 1:25. The same team will also compete in the 4x200m relay on Friday at 1:50. The finals for the 4×2 are also Saturday afternoon (2:35).

Miller Moss and Will Noble will join Guy and Murdock for the sprint medley relay. Guy and Murdock will likely serve as the 200m legs, with Moss in the 400m and Noble the 800m leg. That event is scheduled for Friday evening at 6:45 PM.

Three field event athletes from the men’s team will compete this week as well. Stephen White is entered in the discus throw competition on Friday at 1:30 PM. Alex Padgett and Scott Pauga, regional qualifiers in the hammer throw and javelin throw, respectively, will both compete Saturday at 11 AM.
