COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Clemson men’s swimming team completed the first night the 2009 ACC Championships at the Eppley Recreation Center Natatorium. in eighth place with 42 points thus far.
The first event of the evening was the 200 medley relay.The Clemson team of Jason Chatlosh, Eric Lane, Seth Broster, and Myles Oliver swam to a seventh place finish overall. Their time of 1:29.15 is the fastest of the season, dropping three seconds from their seed time.
After a break, the men returned to action in the 800 free relay. The relay of Brian Possee, Matt Angelini, Scott Clary, and Chris Dart swam to a ninth place finish in this event. Their time of 6:37.28 puts this group just out of the top three all-time. Brian Possee’s opening split of 1:38.70 now ranks sixth on the all-time top ten.
Thursday Preview
Thursday, the Clemson men will compete in five events: the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, one-meter diving, and the 200 free relay.
Sophomore distance swimmer David Gordon will team up with freshmen Will Clark and Alex Carr to contend for a spot in finals. Gordon has posted the fifth fastest time in Clemson’s history in this event. The 200 IM will bring out freshman Chris Dart and teammate Angelini. Both swimmers have posted times in the all-time top then this season.
Tigers Tom Recko and Joe Knect will also make a run at finals. Clemson will send out three freshmen in the 50 free, Oliver, Broster, and Chris Reinke to compete in this the only freestyle event tomorrow. Tiger Lane will also compete here as well.
