Three Tigers Selected for Kenyan World Athletics Championships Trials

CLEMSON, S.C. – Gladys Chepngetich, Judy Kosgei and Brian Kweyei were invited to the Kenyan World Athletics Championships Trials last Thursday, July 10 with competition set to take place on Tuesday, July 22 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi, Kenya.

Chepngetich will run in the women’s 400m and 800m. At the 2025 NCAA Division I Outdoor East First Round, she placed second overall in the 800m with a time of 1:59.47. This was not only a personal record, but also the women’s overall fastest 800m time in Clemson history. Additionally, Chepngetich owns the second (1:59.68, 2025 Tom Jones Invitational), third (1:59.81, 2024 NCAA East First Round), fourth (1:59.94, 2025 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships) and seventh (2:00.53, 2025 Tom Jones Memorial Invitational) fastest times on that list. She last ran the 400m at the 2025 Bob Pollock Invitational where she ran a personal best 54.61 seconds.

Kosgei will join Chepngetich in the women’s 800m. On the women’s fastest individual outdoor 800m times list in Clemson history, she has the second-fastest time of 2:00.29 which was set this past season at the Tom Jones Invitational.

Kweyei will take part in the men’s 800m. He set the fastest men’s overall outdoor 800m time in Tiger history with a 1:45.09 at the 2025 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
