CLEMSON, S.C. – The Tigers are ranked 20th nationally in the poll released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday, April 8. The team fell three spots in the rankings after dropped a 4-3 decision to #4 Virginia and defeating #38 Virginia Tech 5-2 last weekend.
Junior Hunter Harrington jumped 36 places in the singles rankings and is now 56th, after upsetting #19 Amerigo Contini from Virginia Tech in three sets (6-7(3-7), 6-0, 6-3) Sunday and falling in three sets to #24 Alex Domijan of Virginia Friday. Senior Dominique Maden entered the singles rankings at #99 this week after defeating #40 Ryan Shane of Virginia (3-6, 6-2, 6-3) and #120 Andreas Bjerrehus (6-3, 6-4) last week.
Harrington and Maden are ranked 31st in doubles. The pair defeated the Cavaliers’ and Hokies’ top doubles teams over the weekend and has a 16-1 record at flight one doubles so far this season.
Clemson (18-5, 5-3 ACC) is one of six Atlantic Coast Conference teams currently ranked in the top 25 in the nation, while ten of the league’s 12 teams are ranked in the top 50 nationally. The Tigers meet two top-13 opponents on the road this week, as they travel to Durham to face #13 Duke Friday and Chapel Hill to face #8 North Carolina Sunday.
