ACC INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS RESULTS
CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson Track & Field opened the ACC Indoor Championships with Shyhiem Scotland becoming the first champion for the Tigers, becoming a back-to-back ACC Indoor Champion in the men’s high jump. The Tiger men finished the day in fourth place with 22 points while the women were tied for 11th with three.
Scotland won the men’s high jump with a season-best height of 2.14m / 7’ – 00.25”, followed up by Brandon Pottinger who placed second with the same height. Scotland is the second man in Clemson history to win the high jump in consecutive years. Adam Linkenauger won the event three straight years from 2004 – 2006. Both Scotland and Pottinger earned First Team ACC for their performances. Jacob Carruthers also placed seventh in the event with a height of 2.08m / 6’ – 09.75”.
Matthew Philips also scored for Clemson, tying for seventh in the pole vault with a PR height clearance of 5.00m / 16’ – 04.75”.
In the men’s 200m prelim, five of the seven competing athletes qualified for the finals. Grant Holliday won the prelims with a time of 20.71 seconds which ties current sprints coach Tevin Hester for seventh on Clemson’s All-Time Top 10 list. Jalen Johnson (20.78), Cameron Bobcombe (20.82, PR), Ian Johnson (20.92) and Daniel Kidd (21.18, PR) also qualified.
