No. 9/9 Clemson Falls to No. 11/12 Boston College, 11-9

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – No. 9/9 Clemson (3-3, 0-2 ACC) fell to No. 11/12 Boston College (2-3, 2-1 ACC), 11-9, Saturday afternoon at Fish Field House in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Clemson ignited a powerful start to the game, jumping to an early 4-0 lead thanks to Bridget Babcock, Emma Penczek, Aubrie Eisfeld and Kayla MacLeod. Boston College made a push in the second quarter, trailing Clemson 6–5 at halftime. Penczek scored to open the third quarter but Boston College compiled a multiple scores to take a 10-7 lead. Clemson held the Eagles to one fourth quarter goal and saw goals from Alexa Spallina and Penczek but fell short 11-9.

FIRST QUARTER | CLEMSON, 4-2

Clemson came out firing after Babcock opened the scoring off a feed from Emma Penczek. The Tigers kept rolling as Aubrie Eisfeld and Kayla MacLeod added goals to push the lead to 3–0. Eisfeld struck again at 3:47 to make it 4–0 before Boston College finally broke through with two late goals. Clemson led 4–2 after a dominant but increasingly contested quarter.

SECOND QUARTER | 6-5, CLEMSON

Penczek restored Clemson’s multi‑goal cushion early but the quarter quickly shifted as Boston College capitalized with a woman‑up goal, then added another free‑position finish to pull within one. The Eagles tied the game 5–5 on a woman‑up strike as Clemson continued to play shorthanded. With 10 seconds left, MacLeod buried a free‑position goal to reclaim a 6–5 lead heading into halftime.

THIRD QUARTER | 10-7, BOSTON COLLEGE

Boston College tied the game at 6–6 on a Colbert finish, and although Marleigh O’Day briefly put Clemson back in front, the Eagles responded with a 4–0 run, flipping a 7–6 deficit into a 10–7 lead by the end of the quarter.

FOURTH QUARTER | 11-9, BOSTON COLLEGE

Boston College extended the lead to 11–7. The Tigers fought back with goals from Spallina and Penczek in the final minutes but the comeback fell short. Shurtleff continued her strong day on the draw, but Clemson couldn’t convert enough late chances to close the gap, ending the game with an 11–9 final.
