CLEMSON, S.C. – Friday, Clemson men’s tennis (4-6) goes on the road to open up ACC play against No. 3 Wake Forest (12-2). The Tigers are coming off a trip to Fla. last weekend, where they went 1-1 with a loss to No. 8 UCF and a win over South Florida. Friday’s match can be streamed on PlaySight and live stats will be available on SIDEARMStats.

The Tigers and the Demon Deacons have met 85 times in a series that dates back over 100 years. Two charter members of the ACC, Clemson and Wake Forest have met every season since the conference’s founding in 1953 except for 1962 and the Covid-shortened 2020 season. The first meeting came in 1925, where Wake Forest defeated the Tigers 5-1. The teams would not meet as top-25 foes until 2007, the second of three battles that season, where the Demon Deacons took home a 4-2 victory. Clemson holds a 43-42 advantage in the all-time series, but the Tigers are looking for their first victory over Wake Forest since 2012.

LAST TIME OUT

After a pair of close losses to close out the ITA National Indoor Tournament, Clemson traveled to Fla. for matchups against No. 8 UCF and South Florida. The Tigers fell to the Knights, 4-1 in Orlando on Friday before bouncing back in Tampa on Sunday with a 4-3 win over South Florida. Clemson started out with a 1-0 lead after wins by Marko Mesarovic / Matisse Farzam and Viktor Markov / Noa Vukadin earned the doubles point. Farzam took the first singles point of the day before the Bulls got one back. Vukadin then won his match in two sets to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead. USF would go on to win the next two points to tie up the match. After stumbling in the first set, Henrik Bladelius won his final two sets 6-4, 6-4 to clinch the victory and snap a four-match skid.

ACC WEEKLY AWARDS

On Tuesday, Jan. 24, Clemson earned a pair of ACC weekly awards. Viktor Markov and Noa Vukadin were named the ACC Men’s Doubles Team of the Week, and Vukadin Claimed ACC Player of the Week honors. More information can be found HERE.
