CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 16 Clemson men’s tennis (2-1) returns home this Friday for its military appreciation match to face Auburn (6-1). Clemson is looking to continue its winning ways after victories over No. 14 South Carolina and Harvard at the ITA Kickoff in Columbia, S.C. two weekends ago. Friday’s match can be streamed on iOnCourt and will have live results updating through TrackTennis.

This will be the 12th matchup between Clemson and Auburn and the first meeting since 2020. Auburn holds a 7-4 all-time series lead. The first matchup came all the way back in 1941, where Auburn won 4-2. The teams would not meet again until 1977, where Clemson traveled to Auburn and picked up its first victory in the series, 5-4. The first ranked matchup in the series came in 1984, when No. 7 Auburn beat No. 4 Clemson, 7-2. Auburn has won three straight games in the series dating back to 2015.

LAST TIME OUT

On Jan. 22 and 23, Clemson traveled to Columbia, S.C., claiming the ITA Kickoff championship and punching its ticket to the ITA Indoor Tournament with victories over No. 14 South Carolina and Harvard. Against the Gamecocks, the pairs of Henrik Bladelius and Viktor Markov and Yannic Nittmann and Matisse Farzam secured the doubles point and Farzam, Marko Mesarovic and Markov each picked up singles points to secure the 4-2 victory. Against Harvard, Bladelius and Markov won their matchup and the team of Romain Gales and Noa Vukadin came back from a 5-2 deficit to win their matchup and secure the doubles point. The Crimson picked up the first singles point, but Edoardo Chérié Lignière, Markov and Mesarovic each won their singles matchups to give the Tigers a 4-1 victory and earn a berth in the ITA National Indoor Tournament. Markov earned ACC Player of the Week for his efforts.

  • After starting the season as the No. 25 ranked team, Clemson has since moved up in the polls, landing at No. 16.
  • Three Tigers rank in singles and a pair of doubles teams are ranked, including:

    • No. 46 Farzam & Mesarovic
    • No. 56 Bladelius & Markov
    • No. 67 Markov
    • No. 76 Chérié Lignière
