No. 16 Clemson Drops Tight Match Against No. 23 Florida, 4-3

CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 16 Clemson (3-4) fell to No. 23 Florida (5-3), 4-3, in the back draw of the ITA National Indoors on Saturday.

Clemson split four singles victories but the Gators’ early edge in doubles ultimately led to Florida claiming the match. Florida secured the doubles point with matching 6-3 wins on Courts 1 and 3. The Tigers’ Noa Vukadin and Manuel Plunger were locked in a tight battle on Court 2 before the match went unfinished.

Clemson responded with strong singles play, highlighted by three straight‑set victories. Marko Markov delivered a composed 7-5, 6-4 win over Ganesan, while Matisse Farzam outlasted Claverie in a pair of tiebreaks, 7-6(10-8), 7-6(5). Henrik Bladelius added another point with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Nirundorn.

Florida, however, answered with wins on Courts 2, 4 and 6. Jefferson edged Vukadin in a close first set, and Perez Ramos topped Marko Mesarovic in straight sets. Edoardo Chérié Lignière and Edengren split the first two sets, 7-6(2), 4-6. In the third, Chérié Lignière trailed 5-1 before surging back to 5-4, winning 14 of the next 22 points with runs of seven and five straight. He ultimately dropped the overall set, 4-6.

1. Jefferson / Claverie (UF) defeated Markov / Bladelius (CU) 6-3.
2. Perez Ramos / Nirundorn (UF) and Vukadin / Plunger (CU) did not finish.
3. Edengren / Timini (UF) defeated Nittmann / Farzam (CU) 6-3.

1. Markov (CU) defeated Ganesan (UF) 7-5, 6-4.
2. Jefferson (UF) defeated Vukadin (CU) 7-6(3), 6-3.
3. Farzam (CU) defeated Claverie (UF) 7-6[10-8], 7-6(5).
4. Perez Ramos (UF) defeated Mesarovic (CU) 6-1, 6-4.
5. Bladelius (CU) defeated Nirundorn (UF) 6-3, 7-5.
6. Edengren (UF) defeated Chérié Lignière (CU) 6(2)-7, 6-4, 6-4.
