Mothersill Advances to 200m Semifinals at IAAF World Championships

Aug. 10, 2005

Former Clemson Lady Tiger track and field performer Cydonie Mothersill advanced to the semifinals of the 200m dash at the IAAF World Championships on Wednesday. The sprinter from the Cayman Islands ran a 23.72 to win the first heat and advance to one of two semifinals set for Thursday in Helsinki, Finland.

Mothersill held off LaTasha Colander of the United States in heat #1 (23.89) despite a slower reaction time. She will compete in the first semifinal, which is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

A letterwinner in 2001, Mothersill claimed three All-America certificates that season, including a win in the indoor 200m dash. She was the first Lady Tiger to win an NCAA title under current head coach Marcia Noad.
