Martin Named to Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars List

Clemson, Sc– – Former Clemson golfer Ben Martin has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar. The list of scholars is selected by the Collegiate Golf Coach Association. A recipient must have at least a 3.2 cumulative 3.2 GPA, and be of high moral character and in good standing with the University.

It is the second consecutive year that Martin has been chosen. He was one of just three ACC players on the team, as he was joined by Brendan Gielow of Wake Forest and Adam Long of Duke.

Martin finished his Clemson career this past June 1 as a three-time All-ACC selection on the course and a three-time academic All-ACC selection. He was also the recipient of an honorary Weaver-James-Corrigan Scholarship by the Atlantic Coast Conference. He was also named the AgSouth Clemson Student-Athlete of the Year for 2009-10.

On the course in 2009-10, Martin had a 72.16 stroke average for his 32 rounds, and he led the team in top 10 finishes with six. Two of the top 10 finishes took place in NCAA Tournaments as the native of Greenwood finished third at the NCAA Southeast Regional and ninth at the NCAA National Tournament. His top finish as a senior was a co-medalist honor at the Furman Invitational. He had a number-36 final national ranking according to the Sagarin Computer ranking.

Martin played in both the Masters and the US Open this year after finishing second at the 2009 United States Amateur. The December of 2009 Clemson graduate has turned professional.
