Lewis Takes Fourth at USA Juniors

CLEMSON, S.C. — Freshmen John Lewis and Markeeta Thomas ended their respective rookie seasons on positive notes Saturday at the USA Junior Championships in Clovis, Calif. Both natives of the state of Pennsylvania advanced to the finals of their respective events, Lewis in the 800 and Thomas in the 400 hurdles.

Lewis posted a personal best 1:49.74 to close out a successful first year with the Tigers. The former high school national champion finished fourth in the event. Thomas ran a solid 59.35 in the prelims to qualify for the women’s 400 hurdles final, where she placed seventh.

Also competing over the weekend were Imani McGowan and Ersula Farrow in the women’s 800.
