The Clemson women’s basketball team will conclude its 2004-05 regular season schedule with a trip to Raleigh, NC to take on the #19 N.C. State Wolfpack in Reynolds Coliseum on Monday. The game, which is being televised by the ACC’s regional sports network, will tip-off shortly after 7:00 PM. Clemson will look to upset its first ranked opponent of the season.

Clemson defeated N.C. State 78-65 in the first meeting between the two schools this season. Until the Lady Tigers’ most recent game against Georgia Tech, that had been Clemson’s last win. D’Lesha Lloyd scored a career-high 19 points in that game, while Tasha Phillips added 12 in the game’s final six and a half minutes.

The Lady Tigers are 8-18 on the season, 2-11 in ACC play. Last time out, Clemson downed Georgia Tech 58-49 to snap a 12-game skid. Freshman point guard Tasha Taylor was impressive in the win, notching her first career double-double (13 points, 10 assists). She played all but one minute of the game. Taylor is averaging 5.9 assists per game since taking over as the everyday starter at point guard nine games ago. She ranks fourth in ACC play with 4.5 assists per game.

Maxienne White are both coming off double-digit performances. Maxienne White had 10 points against Tech and now is averaging 4.3 points per game this season.

The Wolfpack, ranked 19th in the latest AP poll, are 20-6 on the season (9-4 ACC). N.C. State enters Monday’s contest having won four of its last five and eight of 10 overall. The only two losses during that span were three-point defeats to #1 Duke and #5 North Carolina.

Tiffany Stansbury, a junior college transfer, has been a great addition for N.C. State this season. She leads the team in scoring at 11.7 points per game, but has been even better defensively. She ranks third in the league with 48 blocked shots and also is the team leader in steals.

The Wolfpack boast the league’s second-best scoring defense at just 56.7 points per game. N.C. State is third in field goal percentage defense as well, limiting opponents to just 38 percent shooting.
