Fraley, Smith, Voeks Earn All-ACC Academic Accolades

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson Track & Field’s Veronica Fraley, Rebekah Smith and Grant Voeks earned All-ACC Academic distinctions for the 2019 outdoor season, the conference office announced Friday.

Fraley earned Second Team All-ACC honors in the discus at the 2019 ACC Outdoor Championships. The freshman placed fourth overall and qualified for the 2019 NCAA East Prelims in the event. Fraley also set Clemson’s freshman record in the event with a personal best of 52.90m (173-7) at LSU’s Alumni Gold meet on April 20. She currently ranks second all-time in Clemson history in discus. Fraley posted a 3.62 GPA in the spring of 2019 as a Health Science major.

Smith earned her fifth career All-ACC Academic distinction between indoor and outdoor competition after making her second NCAA Outdoor Championship appearance in the 100m dash. Smith was also the ACC’s runner-up in the 100m dash, which earned her First Team All-ACC status in the for her career. The junior also earned Second Team All-ACC honors in the 200m dash and 4x100m relay. Smith guided the women’s 4x100m relay to its fifth consecutive national championship appearance, where Smith and the Tigers garnered Second Team All-America status. Smith is a Psychology major and achieved a 3.42 GPA last semester.

Voeks won the bronze medal in the discus at the 2019 ACC Outdoor Championships to earn First Team All-ACC recognition. Voeks also registered an additional two points at the conference meet in the shot put. Then, the junior qualified for his first career NCAA Outdoor Championship appearance in the discus after posting the program’s No. 5 all-time mark at the 2019 NCAA East Prelims. He also achieved Clemson’s No. 3 shot put program record of 18.20m (59-8.5) at the East Prelims. Voeks is a Civil Engineering major and attained a 3.60 GPA this past semester.
